Project Return Peer Support Network President and CEO, Keris Jän Myrick, M.B.A., M.S., Ph.D.c was recently featured in Psychiatric News, a publication of the American Psychiatric Association (APA).

In the June 1, 2012 article Myrick describes the key components to her recovery process: a strong therapeutic alliance with her psychiatrist, the support of family and friends, and a challenging executive career. Myrick discusses her work at Project Return Peer Support Network overseeing over 100 peer support groups and a "Warm Line" phone support system.

In addition to her role at PRPSN, Myrick is first Vice President of the National Alliance on Mental Illness  (NAMI) and  consultant to projects of APA’s Office of Minority and National Affairs (OMNA). She is also a member of the selection committee of the APA/SAMHSA Minority Fellowship and offers assistance with the psychiatry component of the Recovery to Practice project, a SAMHSA-funded collaborative effort between APA and the American Association of Community Psychiatrists. "My mind needs to be busy." Myrick told Psychiatric News.

Myrick discusses the importance of trusting relationships with her psychologist and psychiatrist. "(my psychiatrist)...made the effort to get to know me as a person instead of just asking me about my symptoms,” she said.
