The Esperanza Spanish Hope and Recovery Conference, held July 11^th in Culver City was a huge success. “Over 400 people of all ages attended.” said Project Return Senior Program Manager Angelica Garcia. “The theme of the conference was, ‘Enriching Our Lives With a Little Help From Our Friends’. Our Zumba presentation was a big hit and the original play, ‘Balance Is the Key To Life’ featuring El Centrito de Apoyo staff, Gloria Trujillo and Jose Flores, was an emotional testament to the importance of wellness and peer support when recovering from emotional upheavals. The play was filmed and will be posted soon on YouTube. The highlight of the event was the presentation of the 2012 Outstanding Client-Run Program award to El Centrito de Apoyo by the Los Angeles Department of Mental Health. We are so proud of our staff and their hard work. They are changing lives every day.”
